Enfamil® Enspire: Frequently Asked Questions

What is MFGM?

Milk fat globule membrane (MFGM) is a layer composed of fats and proteins that packages milk fat and is secreted by the mammary glands. Specific lipids, such as Sphingomyelin and Gangliosides, in MFGM perform key roles that support infant brain development.

What is Lactoferrin?

Lactoferrin is a protein present in breast milk that supports a healthy gut and immune system.

Why did MJN choose to add MFGM and Lactoferrin to the product?

Through our extensive research of human milk, we are able to better understand not only the nutrients in breast milk, but also the benefits of these nutrients on infants. We were able to identify two key components that are in breast milk, but largely absent from standard formulas. Because these components may be of benefit to infants, we created Enfamil® Enspire™.

Is Enspire FDA reviewed?

Yes. As with all MJN infant formulas, Enspire has been extensively reviewed by the FDA. Enspire is produced in Mead Johnson's US production facilities using domestic and internationally-sourced components.

Will babies tolerate Enspire as well as they do other Enfamil formulas?

Moms can expect their babies to tolerate Enspire the same as they do their current formula. In clinical studies, growth and tolerance have been proven for both new ingredients.

Is Enspire the best formula available in the market today?

Our scientists believe that Enspire comes closer to the nutrition in breast milk than any prior Enfamil formulation, and with its combination of ingredients, is Enfamil's best routine formula available.

Why would I consider Enspire?

Enspire is designed for parents who want our closest formula to breast milk. Enspire has complete nutrition for any infant for whom routine formula is appropriate.
